The story that started it all.
Humans of Bombay began in 2014 with a simple belief: every person has a story worth hearing. Twelve years later it remains the flagship storytelling platform within The Human Company — and the foundation the larger company was built on.
The story
It began with a camera and a curiosity about people. No plan for a company, no thesis about content — just the belief that if you sit with someone long enough and ask the right question, what comes back is worth listening to.
Over the next twelve years we told more than 7,000 stories. Ambition, love, loss, resilience, failure, success and everything in between. From a local train commuter to a global icon. From first-time founders to India's biggest names. From everyday lives to stories that made national headlines.
What grew alongside them was a community of more than 7 million people — and an understanding of what makes someone stop, feel, share, and remember. That understanding is the thing everything else was built on.
Beyond storytelling
Somewhere along the way the stories stopped only being read and started doing things. People found support. Businesses found customers. Causes found communities. Individuals found each other. Nearly ₹20 crore has been raised through the platform for individuals and social causes.
That was the moment the work changed shape — when it became clear that a story with the right person on the other side of it is not content. It's leverage.
The evolution into The Human Company
Brands began coming to us — first for stories, then for audiences, then for content ecosystems and formats of their own. What started as a storytelling platform became a business spanning strategy, creative, production, original IPs and distribution.
Humans of Bombay didn't get replaced by that. It became the flagship platform inside it — still telling stories, still the proving ground for every format we build.
